Social security coordination in the transport sector: challenges and way forward - Conference co-organized by the European Transport Workers’ Federation and ELA

The European Labour Authority (ELA) and the European Transport Workers’ Federation co-host a 1.5-day conference focused on the challenges of social security coordination in the highly mobile EU transport sector. The event explores legal and administrative challenges faced by workers in maritime, road, inland waterways, and aviation, and highlight practical solutions and best practices. 

This conference provides a platform to share real-life cases, identify gaps in current coordination mechanisms, and promote dialogue between stakeholders to ensure fair and consistent coverage across Member States. 

The conference features high-level remarks, sector-specific breakout sessions, and a panel debate, bringing together national authorities, EU institutions, social partners, legal experts, and academics to foster dialogue and improve the application of social security coordination mechanism in the EU.  

This event is part of ELA´s 2025 thematic focus on social security coordination and reflects its commitment to supporting fair labour mobility and stronger social protection across the EU.
