Free movement body (FMB)

 

Authority designated as free movement body - FMB (what are FMBs?)

Latvia has designated multiple free movement bodies with complementary roles. These bodies provide support on labour mobility, equal treatment and legal assistance, including cross-border cases.

State Employment Agency (EURES Latvia) – labour mobility and employment support - Nodarbinātības valsts aģentūra

Ensures the operation of the EURES network in Latvia, promoting the free movement of workers within the EU/EEA. Provides information and guidance on employment opportunities, working and living conditions, and support for cross-border labour mobility.

  • Provides information on job opportunities in EU/EEA countries
  • Advises workers and employers on cross-border employment
  • Supports jobseekers in labour mobility processes
  • Cooperates with EURES institutions in other EU/EEA countries

Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia – equal treatment and discrimination -  Latvijas Republikas Tiesībsargs

Protects the principle of equal treatment and prevents all forms of discrimination. Handles complaints, provides consultations, conducts independent surveys and analyses, including on unjustified restrictions, obstacles or discrimination based on nationality, and publishes independent reports with recommendations on these issues.
