EMPACT analytical meeting on labour exploitation
EMPACT analytical meeting on labour exploitation
Focus on analytical tools and approaches to address labour exploitation and human trafficking.
The third EMPACT analytical meeting on labour exploitation took place in Stockholm, on 16 May 2024 organised by ELA in collaboration with EUROPOL, the Netherlands Labour Authority, and the Swedish Police Authority.
The meeting offered an opportunity to share information on technologies and methods to combat labour exploitation and human trafficking, with a focus on analytical approaches and tools. Participants engaged in discussions about their experiences and challenges in tackling labour exploitation, and pro-actively contributed to the discussion on a case study specific to the HORECA sector.
The event convened 50 representatives from labour inspectorates and law enforcement authorities, mainly analysts from EU Member States, the UK, Iceland, and Norway. It provided a valuable opportunity to exchanges among representatives from labour inspectorates and law enforcement authorities, and a platform to share insights, strategies, and challenges related to tackling labour exploitation and human trafficking.
The European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats is composed of European law enforcement agencies’ representatives as well as labour inspectors. Its purpose is to develop, coordinate and execute joint activities against trafficking and all types of labour exploitation. It also aims to enhance cooperation between national enforcement bodies.
