Building workers to construct Europe. How to deal with labour shortages?
EURES Report on labour shortages and surpluses 2023 launch on 18 April.
The launch event is part of the '30 years of EURES: Fair Work Anywhere in Europe' campaign.
ELA, in its role as the European Coordination Office of EURES (ECO), is pleased to announce an event on 18 April 2024, at 9:30 am CEST, in The Hague (The Netherlands) and online: the event aims at launching the 2023 edition of the ‘EURES Report on labour shortages and surpluses’.
Today, the EU economy and labour market face the challenge of structural labour market imbalances, which affect the availability and quality of jobs in different sectors and regions. To address this challenge, it is essential to facilitate access to information and exchange among policymakers and practitioners on the situation and solutions to tackle labour shortages and surpluses in Europe.
The new edition of the report focuses on labour mobility and the construction sector. It shows who are the most vulnerable groups in the labour market, and how they are affected by labour market imbalances. It also compares the results with previous reports, to see which problems are temporary and which are long-term.
This one-day event brings together EU institutions, national governments, social partners, NGOs and practitioners to explore EURES’ new findings and to learn from measures implemented at national level to tackle labour shortages. It will also be a chance for participants to engage with speakers and experts on issues relating to the main labour shortages and surpluses but also, crucially, to explore the root causes of these shortages and which measures work best to address different drivers.
The event will be webstreamed.
