Move smart, settle fast: Awareness-raising information sessions for Bulgarian cross-border care workers in Germany

Event
Date
Tuesday 1 December 2026, 09.00 (CET) - Friday 4 December 2026, 16.30 (CET)
Location
Bulgaria
Organiser
European Labour Authority

Description

These information sessions take place in Varna, Burgas and Plovdiv, Bulgaria. They help people who are considering care work in Germany, or who already work there, understand their rights, recognise risks and find reliable support.

The sessions focus on care work in private households and cover labour and social security rights, working conditions, direct employment and posting arrangements, and the role of recruitment agencies and intermediaries.

Participants learn how to recognise signs of fraudulent recruitment and labour exploitation, which documents to obtain before leaving Bulgaria, and where to find support in Bulgaria and Germany.

The programme includes practical exercises and discussions based on anonymised real-life cases, helping participants make informed choices and better manage the risks of working abroad.

Six sessions take place, with two in each city, each lasting around three hours. The events are organised in cooperation with the Bulgarian General Labour Inspectorate, Arbeit und Leben Germany, Bulgaria’s National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and the Bulgarian National Employment Agency.
