Free movement body (FMB)

 

Authority designated as free movement body - FMB (what are FMBs?):

Poland has designated two free movement bodies with complementary roles. One body is responsible for policy development, monitoring and coordination related to the Directive, while the other provides advice, handles complaints and supports workers in practical cases.

Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy (policy and coordination) - Minister Rodziny, Pracy i Polityki Społecznej (MRPiPS)

MRPiPS is a member of the Council of Ministers responsible for labour policy issues, tasked with monitoring, analysis, and support for the equal treatment of persons exercising the right to the free movement of workers and their families.

Main areas of support

  • Commissions independent surveys and analyses and publishes reports and recommendations
  • Initiates and monitors actions to prevent restrictions and discrimination
  • Publishes information on free movement of workers and its application in Poland
  • Acts as a contact point for cooperation and exchange of information with other Member States

State Labour Inspection (advice and enforcement support) - Państwowa Inspekcja Pracy (PIP)

PIP is the national authority responsible for the inspection and supervision of working conditions, tasked with informing about equal treatment and supporting EU workers and their families in connection with the implementation of Directive 2014/54/EU in Polish legislation.

Main areas of support

  • Provides advice on equal treatment for EU workers and their family members
  • Provides advice on labour law and occupational safety and health
  • Processes complaints and requests within its statutory competence
  • Requests information from public authorities to support free movement cases
  • Promotes equal treatment in labour relations through non-inspection activities
