Description

A delegation composed from representatives of leading Czech social partners (Confederation of Industry, Confederation of Employers and Entrepreneurs unions and Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions) visited the European Labour Authority (ELA) on 24 February to gain better insight into the structure and functioning of the agency (including involvement of social partners), deeper understanding of ELA’s services, offerings, and opportunities available to for future closer cooperation.

Social partners have expressed particularly interest in the results of ELA's analytical work, e.g. in the coordination of social security or the long-term care sector, in the outputs and deliverables of the Platform for tackling Undeclared Work, which could be used by companies in their daily business, the functioning of EURES for the needs of businesses, of ELA's activities to support employers and operators in the road transport sector and in the development of ELA information services to workers and employers. They expressed interest in participating in ELA information and awareness campaigns and took note of possible use of ELA support in their capacity building.

During the joint discussion, ELA gained insight into the recent development and trends on the Czechia´s labour market, including the significant role of mobile workers and third country national migrant workers in it as well as well as the occurrence of undeclared work, false employment agencies and bogus self-employment. Social partners informed about their active involvement in recent labour and employment legislative reforms in Czechia and their expectations from the new plan to support collective bargaining in the country.

This meeting represented an important step towards mutual cooperation between ELA and Czech social partners.
