Local information event, Roadshow for HGV drivers on SSPA in Belgium

On 13 September 2026, the European Labour Authority (ELA), in cooperation with the Belgian Social Information and Investigation Service (SIIS), European Secure Parking Organisation (ESPORG) and with the representatives of national and EU level social partner organisations, held an on-site information event for international heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers at the Circle K Belgium Jabbeke North Safe and Secure Truck Parking Area (SSPA) on the A10/E40 motorway towards Ostend in Belgium. 

Experts from both national and EU level social partner organisations - ACV-CSC, BTB-ABVV and European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF), engaged directly with drivers and provided practical information on driving and rest time rules, the posting of drivers, cabotage and applicable remuneration rules. The event also contributed to raising awareness on SSPAs and gave drivers an opportunity to ask questions about their rights and obligations when working across borders in the EU. 

As part of this event, a permanent ELA information corner was launched at the site, ensuring that relevant multilingual information materials remain available to drivers even after the event in a form of a practical poster.
