From 14 to 16 September 2026, around 60 enforcement officers from 25 EU Member States and Norway will meet at ELA’s headquarters in Bratislava to strengthen their practical knowledge and share experience on effective enforcement of EU road transport social legislation.
Effective inspections start with proper training. By equipping inspectors with the right knowledge and practical skills, ELA helps ensure more effective checks and stronger enforcement of road transport social legislation across Europe.
The training will cover:
Tachograph manipulation: identifying signs of manipulation and using tachograph data to support roadside checks and investigations.
Driving and rest time infringements: strengthening practical knowledge of the rules and approaches to detecting and documenting infringements.
Smart tachographs and new technologies: looking at recent technological developments and new forms of manipulation that enforcement authorities may encounter.
Light Commercial Vehicles: discussing recent developments and enforcement challenges related to LCVs.
Practical enforcement and cooperation: working through practical cases and group exercises, while exchanging experience and approaches with enforcement colleagues from across Europe.
The training combines expert presentations, practical exercises and peer-to-peer exchanges. This approach will allow participants to build on their existing knowledge and explore practical ways of identifying non-compliance during roadside checks and investigations.
The initiative is part of a multiannual cooperation effort, through which ELA will continue working with enforcement authorities to tackle infringements of driving and rest time rules.
