Legal Service Counter (legal assistance) - Juridisch Loket

Het Juridisch Loket (Legal Service Counter) is an independent, public non-profit legal service provider that helps everyone with a legal question and low income, free of charge. EU migrant workers are helped in their own language by legal advisors who have roots in the same countries.

Main areas of support

  • Provides free first-line legal assistance to labour migrants on issues related to work, housing, contracts, family or wages
  • Offers free legal advice in migrants’ own languages, including Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Greek, Spanish and Turkish
  • Explains rights and obligations clearly to help migrants understand their legal position
  • Contacts employers or other parties to clarify disputes or resolve problems, and escalates when necessary
  • Refers migrants to a lawyer when necessary and helps prepare legal steps
  • Works with partners (e.g. FairWork, Barka, WorkinNL) to provide accessible local support in regions with many labour migrants
