As a decentralised agency of the European Union, the European Labour Authority (ELA) employs staff on a temporary basis (as “temporary agent” and “contract agents”). The Staff Regulations of Officials and the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants (CEOS) of the EU, as well as implementing rules giving effect to these will apply to the staff of the Authority. The Authority will also host seconded national experts.

Update 05/05/2020
Following the closure of the deadline for the positions for temporary agents at ELA on 30 April 2020, the respective selection committees will now start the screening of applications.
For the Head of Unit – Resources positions, a total of 143 valid applications were registered. From this total, 69% were from male candidates, whereas 31% correspond to female candidates.
For the position of Head of Sector – HR, 105 valid applications were submitted before the deadline, 50% corresponding to male candidates and 50% to female candidates.
With regards to the Business Manger – EURES Portal position, a total of 214 valid applications were submitted. For this vacancy, 76% of applications correspond to male candidates, whereas 24% were from female candidates.
Update 05/03/2020
Following the closure of applications on 14/02/2020 for the vacancy of Finance & Procurement Assistant of the European Labour Authority, the selection committee has now started the scoring of applications.
A total of 164 valid applications were sent by the deadline. 61% of the total correspond to female candidates, whereas 39% correspond to male candidates.
Due to the lockdown measures, the closure of assessment centers and the cancellation of the EPSO testing windows in April and May 2020, it was not possible to invite pre-selected candidates to take the EPSO test. Shortlisted candidates are foreseen to be invited to take the test in the next available session.
A shortlist of candidates who successfully pass the EPSO test will be invited to participate in an interview with the selection committee.
Update 17/12/2019
Following the closure of applications on 06/12/2019 for the vacancy of Executive Director of the European Labour Authority, the European Commission is currently putting together a pre-selection committee to assess applications.
A total of 72 applications were sent by the deadline. 30% of the total correspond to female candidates, whereas the 70% remaining correspond to male candidates.
Following the screening of applications, as per the vacancy notice, pre-selected candidates may be requested to go through an assessment centre, and several rounds of interviews with top management of the Commission.
Update 09/10/2019
Progress is ongoing for the first vacancies of temporary agents at the European Labour Authority. The table below offers an overview of the status of the work of the respective selection committees for each of the advertised vacancies.
All candidates have been informed individually about the results of the pre-selection, for those profiles where this phase is completed. Similarly, all candidates will be informed of the status of their application once the respective selection committees have completed their work.
For the first six vacancies of temporary agents to the European Labour Authority, we received a total of 2421 valid applications. From this total, 40% of applications were from male candidates, whereas 60% correspond to female candidates. 52% of applications correspond to Slovak citizens. Italian (9%), Romanian (5%) and Greek (5%) citizens follow as the most represented nationalities of applicants.

Following the closure of the deadline for the first six vacancies for temporary agents at ELA on 6 August 2019, the respective selection committees will now start the screening of applications.
Overall, a total of 2421 valid applications for these six vacancies were registered. From this total, 40% of applications were from male candidates, whereas 60% correspond to female candidates. The table below shows the number of valid registered applications, and the estimated number of candidates to be invited to the assessment phase in each case. The European Commission, on behalf of ELA, applies a policy of equal opportunities and treats applications without discrimination on any grounds.
Given the high volume of applications received, the timeframe dedicated to pre-selection may be extended beyond what is stated in the vacancy notices. Please note that it will not be possible to share any further detail to individual information requests during this period. ELA may occasionally require additional temporary (interim) workers who will be hired through our service provider Civitta Eesti AS. Those hired by the service provider will work at ELA´s premises but will not be employed by ELA.

Traineeship
The ELA traineeship programme is an opportunity for enthusiastic university graduates to acquire practical experience and knowledge of the day-to-day work of our Units. The traineeship will last 6 months (with possibility of extension) starting October 2022 and will be based in our office in Bratislava.
