## Description

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Germany and the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, in close cooperation with the European Labour Authority (ELA), organise a conference on the challenges and opportunities of cross-border living and working.

The labour market in the border region of the Netherlands and Germany offers many opportunities for workers and employers on both sides of the border. Although the region has a rich history of cooperation initiatives, some of the challenges faced by workers and employers persist:

- Diverging national rules on social insurance and tax,
- The precarious and sometimes exploitative working and living conditions of EU mobile workers working and living across borders,
- Lack of information provision to the mobile workers,
- Challenges the inspection authorities face on both sides
